Appearance: Large, clump forming. Upright, shrub-like growth habit. Leaves are pea-like in shape, relatively diease and pest free.
Light Requirements: Full sun/ Tolerate Part Shade
Bloom Time:Late Spring – early summer on tall, spikes. Individual flowers resemble Lupine or peas.
Uses: Used as a dye plant. Fixes nitrogen in the soil, and improves fertility.
Site and soils: Full sun, average to rich drained soils. Drought tolerant. Difficult to divide, and long lived.
Native to: B. autralis is native to the eastern U.S., and natutalized (non-invasive) to Ontario.
